Congratulations to Derry Township Constable Matthew Atwood and his K-9 partner Zhukov for completing the Explosives Detection Evaluation course.
Matthew served 15 years in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer with deployments to Iraq and peace keeping deployment to Egypt. Zhukov is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shep mix from Slovakia.
They are currently certified with American Working Dog Association and AK9I; attended AK9I’s Explosive Detection K9 Handler/Trainer Course in Virginia in 2019 and certified in January 2020.
They have conducted explosive sweeps for events at stadiums and arenas and worked as part of a JHAT Team (Joint Hazard Assessment Team) with state and federal agencies for large events throughout the United States.
Matthew is the business owner of Tactical K9 Services, LLC, where he trains K9s, pets, and conducts firearms training.
